Expectations & Grading

EXPECTATIONS:
  • Respect (Each other, Equipment, Teacher)
  • Not going off on other random sites during class (Will give 5 min. at beginning of each class for checking email / grades, catching up on news, etc.
  • Unrelated conversations
  • Raising hands to talk, Not taking the mouse when you are helping someone
  • Don’t get up to leave at end of class. Appoint a timekeeper (5 min warning for me)
  • Check your Lancaster Mennonite Email in the evening.
  • Check the Agenda/Assignment page on the class wiki to see what we will be doing each day or to see what you need to make up because you were absent.

HOW CLASS WILL RUN
  • Tues, Thurs, Fri (Mon/Wed, Mr. Silva will supervise and they will have an assignment for the day, as well as an on-going assignment to always work on.)
  • During those Mon/Wed, when you are finished with my assignment, you may work on another teacher’s assignment or your on-going assignment. You are not to be playing games or doing random googling.

GRADES
  • If you can do all the skills I teach, you will get a “C”.
  • If you do a bit more on the on-going assignment, you’ll get a “B”.
  • If you go way above and beyond on the on-going assignments, you can get an “A”.
  • There are very few tests. Most of your work will be assignments (projects).

LATE WORK
  • Late work will not receive full credit, unless you were sick the day before.
  • Cheating or copying assignments will result in a "O" grade for the assignment for all involved.

HELP
  • I am available in the library Tues/Thurs/Fri to help you. Just email me to make sure I am there.

MATERIALS
  • Bring a usb drive.

  • 1st Semester
    • Review/checkup on basic Computer Apps skills (Word Processing / Graphics / Spreadsheet
    • Blogging / Discussions in Edmodo
    • Exploring Web 2.0 tools or other available software: Wordle, Animoto, QR Codes, SlideShare, SumoPaint, [[#|Sketchup]], Programming Software to make simple games, Photoshop Elements, Animation software, Garageband for creating music, Garageband for creating Podcasts
    • Students finding and sharing Web 2.0 tools and free online sites
  • 2nd Semester
    • Small collaborative project with classmates.
    • Decide on independent project to be done by yourself or with group or as a class which incorporates as multiple technologies or tools.
